Introducing the New CSNTM Digital Manuscript Collection

Our new Digital Manuscript Collection interface is officially live. This development has been years in the making and represents one of the most significant advancements in CSNTM’s history.

For more than two decades, our original database has served as a critical resource for New Testament manuscript research, providing unprecedented access to high-resolution images of ancient Greek New Testament manuscripts. As our archive expanded, however, so did the need for a more versatile, future-ready platform.

To meet that need, we built a new Digital Manuscript Collection from the ground up. Drawing on twenty years of experience and collaboration with leading scholars, this cutting-edge platform brings together a wide array of primary resources into a single, fully searchable repository. Designed to serve scholars, students, pastors, and anyone interested in the history of the New Testament, it preserves the strengths of our legacy database while significantly expanding what is possible.

Why This Launch Is So Significant

Our previous interface was limited to hosting Greek manuscripts with assigned Gregory-Aland numbers, which neglected other vital resources, such as:

  • Non-Greek manuscripts (Coptic, Syriac, Arabic, Latin)
  • Printed New Testament editions (e.g., Stephanus’ 3rd edition, Wettstein’s 1730 edition)
  • Unpublished manuscript materials (e.g., Legg’s edition of Luke, MS98 at Lambeth Palace Library)
  • Scholarly annotations, correspondence, and research archives (e.g., Tischendorf, Geerlings, IGNTP materials)

Recognizing these limitations, we designed a new searchable repository capable of housing a  a wide array of resources New Testament scholars need. The result is a research platform built for long-term growth—fueling discovery, strengthening scholarship, and increasing confidence in the New Testament text for generations to come.
